Terms of Service
Last updated: July 18, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Alterframe (the "Service"), operated by Alterframe ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
1. The Service
Alterframe lets you upload a video or photo, select people, faces, or objects in it, and generate a copy in which the selected regions are obscured (blurred or pixelated) or removed with the surrounding background reconstructed, using AI-assisted selection and tracking. Outputs are your own footage or photos with the selected regions edited; the Service does not fabricate events or replace anyone in your media.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. You are responsible for your account credentials and for all activity under your account. We may refuse, suspend, or terminate accounts to protect the Service or comply with law.
3. Credits, payments, and refunds
- Jobs are paid for with credits, purchased as one-time packs via Stripe. Credits are consumed per second of processed video, with a minimum per job shown at purchase time. Photo edits are currently offered at no charge.
- Credits are a limited, non-transferable license to use the Service. They have no cash value and are not redeemable for money, except where a refund is required by applicable law.
- If a job fails for technical reasons, the credits for that job are automatically returned to your balance. Credits spent on jobs that are blocked or removed for violating section 4 may be forfeited.
- We may change pack pricing and credit rates prospectively at any time.
4. Acceptable use
You may only upload content that you have the right to possess and process. Editing a recording does not make an unlawfully obtained or unlawfully shared recording lawful. You must not upload or use the Service for:
- Minors, exploitation, and abuse: sexual or exploitative content involving anyone under 18, in any form. Apparent child sexual abuse material is reported to the relevant authorities — uploading it for any purpose, including redaction, is prohibited.
- Unlawfully obtained recordings: footage obtained by hidden cameras in private settings, unlawful surveillance, hacking, or other illegal means.
- Harassment and intimidation: use of the Service to further stalking, doxxing, bullying, or intimidation.
- Evidence tampering and deception: altering content to destroy or falsify evidence, obstruct an investigation, or misrepresent what a recording shows in a legal or official context.
- Rights violations and illegal content: content that infringes copyright or other rights, or that is illegal where you or we operate.
We may use automated screening and human review to enforce this.
5. Your content
You retain ownership of the videos and photos you upload and, as between you and us, the outputs you generate. You grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, process, and transmit your uploads and outputs solely to operate the Service, including processing by the infrastructure providers listed in the Privacy Policy. We do not use your uploads or outputs to train models, and we do not sell them.
6. No guarantee of anonymization
Obscuring a region of a video or photo reduces its visibility; it does not guarantee that a person or object can never be identified from the remaining footage or its context, and it does not by itself make any recording lawful. You are responsible for determining whether an output meets the legal, regulatory, or platform redaction standard that applies to your use — the Service is not legal advice and is not certified against any particular compliance standard.
7. Enforcement
We may reject uploads, block or remove jobs and outputs, withhold forfeited credits, and suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these Terms. We report child sexual abuse material to the relevant authorities. To report abuse of the Service, email [email protected].
8. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Tracking quality depends on your footage; fast motion, heavy occlusion, and low light can degrade results.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Alterframe will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10. Changes and termination
We may update these Terms; material changes will be announced on this page with a new "last updated" date, and continued use after the change constitutes acceptance. You may stop using the Service and request account deletion at any time via [email protected].
