Frequently asked questions
How does the video blur work?
Upload a short video and tap the person or object you want hidden — once. Alterframe tracks it through every frame, including when it moves, turns, or briefly leaves the shot, and applies the blur for the whole clip. Your video's motion, resolution, and audio stay untouched. Results usually take under 2 minutes.
What can I blur?
Anything you can tap: faces, whole people, license plates, screens and documents, logos, tattoos, house numbers — or several of them in the same video or photo. Each target is tracked independently, so you can blur a bystander while the main subject stays sharp.
What blur styles are there?
Soft blur, pixelation, or a solid blob, with adjustable strength. Edges are feathered so the result looks natural rather than like a box taped over the video.
Can it remove an object instead of blurring it?
Yes. Switch the effect to Remove and the object — shadow included — is erased from every frame, with the background rebuilt behind it. Blur hides something; Remove makes it look like it was never there. You can mix effects in one video or photo: remove one object, blur another.
Can I edit photos too?
Yes — drop in a JPG, PNG, or WebP and the same editor works on the still: tap what should go, or paint it with the brush. Blur, pixelate, blob, or remove with the background rebuilt, then download the result as a PNG.
Are photo edits free?
Your first 3 are. After that, any credit pack unlocks unlimited photo editing for good — photos never spend credits, so once it is unlocked you can edit as many as you like, no watermark. Video rendering costs one credit per started minute.
Is there a free tier?
Yes — creating a free account gets you 3 free credits plus saved history, good for three video edits on clips up to 10 seconds. Any credit pack unlocks full-length clips at one credit per started minute — packs start at $9 for 15 credits. Photos work differently: the first 3 edits are free, and any pack unlocks unlimited photo editing permanently — photos never spend credits.
What formats and lengths are supported?
Video: MP4, MOV, and WebM up to 60 minutes and up to 1920px on the longest side — the output keeps your video's resolution, aspect ratio, and audio. Photos: JPG, PNG, and WebP up to 60MB, with the result downloading as a PNG.
What happens if an edit fails?
You're automatically refunded — failed edits return their credits on the spot, including trial credits. If a job ever gets stuck, it's cancelled and refunded automatically too.
Can the blur be removed or reversed?
No. The blur is rendered into the exported file's pixels — it is not an overlay or a filter that can be toggled off. The unblurred original stays private in your account and you can delete it at any time.
Do you train AI models on my uploads?
No. Uploads are processed only to perform the edit you requested, are never used for training, and can be deleted on request.
